Course Title: PRINCIPLES OF DESTINY (Lecture 13)

i. Programming

We have seen that God has time for everything He does. He expects us also to draw up a program for ourselves. Joseph had a 14 years program. The first seven years, he spent it in gathering food.

The last seven years was for the selling of the food. "And the seven years of plenteous, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended. And the seven years of death began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all the lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread." Gen.41:53-54.

There was food in Egypt because the program of Joseph worked. "And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt. And all the countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands." Gen.41:56-57.

Why was Egypt different from other countries of the world? It was vision and planning that made the difference. Pharaoh had the dream and Joseph planned the dream. Your life will be better than that of other people, when you have vision and the plan to execute them.

The first step in planning is programming. Indicate when each event will take place. For purpose of illustration, let us use the building of a five bedroom duplex as an example.

1. Digging of foundation 30/9/2021-5/10/2021

2. Pouring of concrete in the foundation 6/10/2021

3. Laying of blocks for german floor 7/10/2021-9/10/2021

4. Sand-filling for german floor 11/10/2021-13/10/2021

5. Weaving of iron rods for german floor 14/10/2021-16/10/2021 etc.

The above is an example of program. It helps you to set goals and consequently managing your time very well. You know what to do and when to do it. The only way to save time is to budget it.

Programming is time-budgeting. "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." Eph.5:15-16. When you have a schedule for all your events, it shows you are wise.

Fools leave things to chances. Their philosophy is that what will be will be, even when you don't do anything. But the wise believe in the law of sowing and reaping. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Gal.6:7.

If you do nothing, you will have nothing. Therefore, let every day be productive for you. For each of the week, God knows what He will do. We read in the Holy Bible that He created the heaven and earth within a week. He drew a program of what was to be done for each day. He even planned His rest. "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made." Gen.2:2.

You should have program for each week of the month. At the end of every week, you should examine what you have achieved, based on your plan and score yourself on 100 scale. That is how to achieve your vision and be a success.

Vision doesn't fulfil itself. It must be worked up. Break it up into goals with time limit. Gradually, you will see your vision becoming a reality.
