2 Kings 2:9-10 KJV
[9] And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
[10] And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless , if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so .
He followed him from Gilgal to Bethel and refused to turn back from him. His fellow sons of the Prophets stayed back in Gilgal, but he followed on. Elijah came to Bethel and advised him to stay back because the Lord had sent him to Jericho, but he spoke and said:
"...And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho." (2 Kings 2:4)
When they came to Jericho, the Prophet told him to stay back because the Lord had sent him to Jordan, he insisted he would follow him to wherever he was going.
What was Elisha looking for?
What was his passion?
Now compare him with this.
And now look at this again:
2 Kings 5:20,26-27 KJV
[20] But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
[26] And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee , when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
[27] The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
GEHAZI, on his own part followed his Master for another thing entirely different. While Elisha was following Elisha to receive a Double Power for ministerial continuity, GEHAZI, the Servant of Elisha chose to follow his own Master for Material things.
There are many young ministers and a lot of Children of God these days whose main motive for following or connecting with some elderly ministers of God is never for any spiritual empowerment.
Some follow for material and physical things.
Some follow for Ministerial Connections to higher places or to influential persons.
Some younger ministers follow some higher men of God for Money and material things they can derive from them.
Therefore, such people, however close they may be to an anointed Men of God, they can not be spiritually empowered.
While Elisha was following for Spiritual Empowerment, GEHAZI was following for Material Empowerment. And it is very frightening to know that those who follow for Spiritual Empowerment would always have what they desire, while those who follow a Spiritual Leader, or an influential Godly Minister for Material gains would always be the losers.
Elisha got the Double Portion of power he desired. And GEHAZI got the Material possessions he desired plus, the Double Portion of Namaan's leprosy.
IF YOUR MOTIVE FOR MOVING CLOSER TO AN ANOINTED GODLY MAN OF GOD IS FOR MATERIAL THINGS, THEN, YOU CAN NEVER BE SPIRITUALLY EMPOWERED THROUGH HIM.
GEHAZI was a great loser. If Elisha got the Double Portion of Elijah's anointing, what made GEHAZI, the servant of Elisha not to secure the double portion of Elisha's Anointing and Power. then, GEHAZI would have possessed the Power of Elijah times FOUR. He would have been greater than his Master, Elisha.
But, no, he was preoccupied with something else. Gaining material things from his Master. Acquiring material possessions from him. But he lost out.
If your interior motive for serving that Man of God, for running around for him and doing all his biddings is for material or financial connections, THEN, YOU WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO CONNECT TO HIS SPIRITUAL POWERS AND ANOINTING.

Matthew 6:33 KJV
[33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
WHEN YOU GET THE SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT, THE REST SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.
