For thirty years, the way most people watched a Mount Zion film was to borrow a tape from someone at church.
That was never piracy in any meaningful sense — the ministry distributed freely and encouraged copying, because reach was the point and revenue was not. But the habit it created has outlived the model, and it now works against the filmmakers it once helped.
A generation trained to expect Christian films for free is a generation that will not pay for them. And without payment, budgets stay small, filmmakers work without wages, and talented people leave for secular Nollywood. If you want more Nigerian Christian films, watching them through official channels is the single most useful thing you can do.
Here is where to find them properly.
Mount Zion Films
Official streaming site — mountzionfilms.tv
The ministry’s own platform, described as the official online streaming home for Mount Zion movies, carrying over 100 titles in HD with new additions weekly. It requires free registration for full access.
This is the first place to look. Watching here means the ministry sees the viewership numbers directly, which matters more than most people realise when they are negotiating with distributors and partners.
Mount Zion Movies & TV Series app
Available on iOS and Android, free to use, with no subscription required. The catalogue is organised into sections covering Mount Zion Faith Ministries films, the Jay & Josh series, short films, music videos, testimonies, trailers, behind-the-scenes footage, and tutorials.
Useful if you would rather watch on a phone than a browser, and the download-for-later function helps if your data is limited.
YouTube — official channels
Mount Zion maintains official YouTube channels carrying a substantial portion of the catalogue free and legally. Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and JayMikee also publish through their own channels.
The important thing here is finding the official channels rather than the many re-upload accounts. Look for consistent branding, a long upload history, and high subscriber counts. If a channel is posting a full Mount Zion film with a thumbnail full of red arrows and shouting text, it is almost certainly a re-upload, and the view count is not reaching the people who made it.
Agbara Nla: The Return (October 2026)
Different rules apply to this one, because it is a commercial cinema release rather than a ministry distribution.

Streaming afterwards on Circuits, the platform partnering on the production, which will handle global access once the theatrical window closes.
If you can get to a cinema, go in the opening weekend. Nigerian box office reporting weights the first weekend heavily, and that number is what determines whether distributors take the next faith-based film seriously. A ticket bought in week one is worth considerably more to the industry than the same ticket bought in week four.
Other Nigerian Christian film sources
Individual filmmaker channels. Many gospel filmmakers now distribute directly through their own YouTube channels. Subscribing and watching the full film — rather than skipping through — is genuine support, because watch time is what generates their revenue.
Church and ministry platforms. Several large Nigerian ministries operate their own free streaming services carrying original film and drama content.
Nigerian streaming services. Mainstream platforms carrying Nollywood content increasingly include faith-based titles. Where a Christian film appears on a paid service, watching it there sends the strongest possible commercial signal.
How to spot an unofficial upload
Not all free viewing is illegitimate — Mount Zion genuinely gives a great deal away. But re-uploaders monetise other people’s work, and it is worth being able to tell the difference.
Signs a source is unofficial:
- A channel or site name that does not match the production company
- Full films posted with no reference to the ministry, or with the credits cut
- Aggressive thumbnails with arrows, circles, and capitalised claims
- Sites that require you to disable an ad blocker, click through several redirects, or install something
- Titles altered to sensationalise — a film renamed to promise something the film does not contain
Beyond the ethics, unofficial streaming sites are a genuine security risk. The redirect-heavy ones carry malware routinely, and “download the player to continue” is almost always the point at which something gets installed on your device.
Watching from the diaspora
If you are outside Nigeria, a few practical notes.
The official streaming site and the app work internationally. YouTube obviously does. Cinema releases sometimes get limited runs in cities with large Nigerian populations — London, Houston, Atlanta, Toronto — usually announced only a week or two ahead, so follow the distributor’s social accounts rather than waiting for a listing to appear.
Where a film is available on a paid platform in your country, that is where your view is worth the most. Diaspora viewing figures carry disproportionate weight in distribution conversations because the advertising and subscription value per viewer is far higher.
Why this matters more than it seems
There is a version of this argument that sounds moralistic, and that is not quite the point.
Mount Zion has produced more than 200 films across four decades, largely without a functioning revenue model, sustained by donations and by people working for very little. The Institute has trained more than four thousand filmmakers. Almost none of that was funded by viewers.
That model achieved enormous reach and left the sector permanently under-capitalised. The current generation is trying to change it — cinema releases, streaming partnerships, platforms that count views and pay for them.
Whether that works depends on whether the audience shows up in the places where showing up counts.
So: register on the official site. Use the app. Subscribe to the real channels rather than the re-uploads. And if you can, buy a ticket in October.
